WHAT IS IMPLANT?
Implant is the name given to an artificial tooth root in the form of a cylindrical screw made of titanium material instead of missing tooth in the mouth. After the implant is applied, it remains in the mouth for a certain period of time and is bone-bonded. Osseointegration (fusing with bone) is then mounted on the abutment, which is then mounted on this abutment.
Implant success is a priority issue for patients and physicians. Nowadays, 90 % success is achieved. There are three essential requirements for successful implant treatment:
- Good examination before implant operation
- Proper operation of implant operation
- Good maintenance after implant construction.
The surgical stage of implant treatment involves all operations performed to place the implants into the jawbone and facilitate the prosthetic staging. Implant surgery placement is just one step in implant assisted prosthetic building.
However, the success of the result is a critical step in the whole process, since it depends on the successful attachment of the infrastructure to the bones. Before the surgical procedure is performed, it is extremely important that the patient undergo a comprehensive planning process to determine the limitations of the clinical condition in his mouth, as well as the need for bone dust and proper surgical intervention.
This stage normally begins by taking a good history of the patient, including the patient’s thoughts and the reasons for which the teeth have been lost and how long. In addition, the details and expectations of the ideas in the order of application are also learned.
Oral and oral evaluations are performed on this examination.
Asymmetrical faces, smile lines, and other abnormalities, if any, are identified in the mouth examination.
Oral examination involves the systematic evaluation of soft tissues, teeth, occlusion, and prostheses, if any. The examination also covers the missing tooth regions, and the relationship between gaps and existing gaps should be considered.
After this is done, panoramic dental x-rays are taken of the dental panoramic imaging and dental x-rays, including periapical views.
At the end of this pre-treatment evaluation, information about whether the patient is suitable for implant treatment should be obtained. A differential diagnosis is made, including the health of the remaining teeth, and initial treatment planning is performed. Any disease or abnormal finding during this plan should be assessed prior to implant treatment planning. During this phase, suspicious and bad teeth are identified and protection or shooting decisions are made according to the effects on the planning. Shooting decisions can be made for teeth that are likely to cause problems for implant therapy.
